We hope you’ll join us for our Sunday worship service to see what we’re all about. Our regular worship services are on Sundays at 10am. We look forward to meeting you soon. Listed below are some of the questions that you might be asking regarding our church.

Where is the church located?
Our address is 6820 Ashworth Road, West Des Moines, IA 50266.

When is the best time to arrive?
We recommend arriving 10 minutes before our 10 a.m. service to allow time to park and get seated.

What should I wear?
You will notice that many people are casually dressed here while others may be more comfortable in dressier clothes – all are welcome!

What should I bring?
If you have a Bible, bring it. If not, we have Bibles we would love to give you as a gift.

What happens during the worship service?
Generally, our service begins with a time of worshiping the Lord together through song, led by our worship band. Most people stand during this time; however, you are welcome to be seated if you prefer. The words to the songs will be projected on a screen. Then, we have a Biblical message brought to us from a leader in our church. You will be challenged to come to know Jesus as your Lord and Savior if you have not already made this important decision. You will also be provided with practical applications of how we can grow spiritually and make an impact in the lives of those around us.

How long does the service last?
Our service lasts around 1 hour and 10 minutes.

What about after the service?
You are welcome to stay after the service for a donut and a cup of coffee. This is also a great time to meet some of our church family. We usually have an adult bible study elective after the service. We also have a youth bible study after the service on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month.

The following gives you a brief summary of what we believe.
What We Believe
In essential beliefs – we have Unity
There is one body and one Spirit… one Lord, one faith, one baptism,one God and Father of all, who is over all... Eph 4:4-6
In non-essential beliefs – we have Liberty
As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions. Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls... So then each of us will give an account of himself to God. The faith that you have, keep between yourself and God... Rom 14:1,4,12,22
In all our beliefs – we show Charity
And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 1Cor 13:2
The Essentials We Hold To
The Godhead (Trinity)
There is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Deu 6:4
The Father
The first person of the Godhead orders and directs all things according to His own purpose and pleasure. He authored, created, and sustains all things in the universe without any means other than His own pure power. By His grace, He involves Himself in the affairs of men, hears and answers prayer, and saves from sin and death all that come to Him through Jesus Christ. Mat 6:9, Eph 1:3, John 5:19
The Lord Jesus Christ
He existed eternally as the second person of the Godhead. By His virgin birth He came to earth as fully God and fully man, living a sinless life. His death on the cross made atonement for man’s sin, evidenced by His bodily resurrection from the dead. He physically ascended to the right hand of God the Father, and He will return in power and glory. John 1:14, Col 2:9, Acts 2:33
The Church
The church is the body of believers consisting of all born-again persons without respect to race, culture, age or background. Directed by Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit, the church is taking the good news of salvation to the whole world. Our fellowship is inclusive rather than exclusive and stresses love for God and one another, the unity of all believers, and obedience to the Holy Spirit. Eph 2:19-21, Eph 3:10
The Holy Spirit
The third person of the Godhead convicts men of sin, regenerates, baptizes, indwells, instructs, and sets apart believers unto a holy life. We encourage all believers to seek a life of obedience to the leadership of the Holy Spirit. We believe this step is essential for empowering believers for victorious living and ministry through the gifts given by the Holy Spirit. Titus 3:5, Acts 1:8, 1Cor 3:16
The Bible
The Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the complete, inerrant in the original manuscripts, divinely inspired, infallible Word of God. The Bible is the supreme authority and guide for our Christian faith and living. 2Pet 1:20, Heb 4:12
The Nature of Mankind
Mankind was directly created in God’s image, voluntarily fell into sin by personal disobedience to the will of God; consequently, all people are spiritually dead apart from Jesus Christ. The fall of humanity was a once-for-all historical fact. Its effect spread to all men, each of whom is born with a sinful nature and is in need of salvation. Eph 2:1, Rom 3:10, Rom 3:23-24
The Necessity of Salvation
Salvation (Justification) is by grace, a gift of God apart from works. Salvation (Justification) includes repentance, a turning from one’s own way to God’s way. All who receive Jesus Christ are born-again, regenerated by the Holy Spirit, and become the children of God. Our relationship with Christ is secure not by our actions but by the sustaining power and love of God. A changed life follows the work of God in a person’s Salvation (Justification). Titus 2:11, 1John 1:9, 1Pet 2:2
About Eternity
People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence. John 3:16; 14:17, Rom 6:23; 8:17, Rev 20:15, 1Cor 2:7-9
Who We Are
Our Focus, Purpose, Ministry Model and Passion

Our Focus: Worship and Obedience
We are a body of born-again "saints" who follow Jesus Christ! Our meetings focus exclusively on Worship and Obedience to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We do not belong to a denomination. Our leadership example is Paul as established in God’s Word. All leaders at Grace West Church are people who live a lifestyle that emulates Christ-likeness for others to see and follow.

Our Purpose: Equipping the Saints
The purpose of our gatherings is to equip the “saints,” those who are called to go and do the work of the ministry. We have one paid admin. All other positions (including Senior Pastor, Elders, and Deacons) are volunteer. Our senior pastor is the primary shepherd, the elders govern the church, and the deacons oversee property needs. Our ministries are volunteer-led, relying on the people God provides. We don’t hire vocational ministry leaders since we are called to mature the “saints” in their walk. While anyone is welcome to visit, our messages are designed to build up those already saved who are the “saints,” called out by the Holy Spirit, to go and make disciples.

Our Ministry Model: Disciples Making Disciples
Our ministry model is to mature followers of Jesus to His mindset of ministry. Where, for instance, Paul finds a Timothy who finds a Titus, who will go and do the same, etc. We “go” about witnessing to people by sharing what Jesus has done in our lives, helping them to see their need for Jesus as their own Lord and Savior. Jesus told His followers to “go and make disciples.” That is what our ministry model is all about: disciples making disciples, the “saints” doing what Jesus commands us to do. We don’t rely on activities, events, and programing to attract people who are not saved. Unsaved people can’t Worship and Obey Jesus since they lack the Holy Spirit in their life. Many churches use the attraction model to draw visitors during outreach events in hopes of a salvation experience for some. While we may have events, they are not our primary venue for outreach. They are designed for us, the saints, to invite people and for those who invited them to share the gospel.

Our Passion: Helping Others Know and Grow in Christ
We are the “Bride of Christ!” We know Jesus is coming back for His Bride. Therefore, our passion is helping those who don’t have a born-again relationship with Jesus make that choice. And secondly, for those who are saved, to grow into the mind of Christ, which is a maturity issue. The True Bride of Christ will Listen to Jesus, agree with Jesus, be willing to submit to Jesus and live to obey Jesus. It’s all about Jesus! Are you ready to meet Jesus?
